What private ear wax removal costs

Prices vary between clinics, pharmacies and hearing centres, and they aren't always like-for-like. Before you book, check:

  • Whether the price is for one ear, both ears or per appointment
  • Whether there is a fee if no wax is found
  • Whether home visits cost extra, and whether children are seen

This site compares prices and services only. It isn't medical advice. If you have ear pain, discharge, bleeding, sudden hearing loss or dizziness, contact your GP, NHS 111 or a pharmacist rather than booking wax removal.

Questions people ask

Ear wax removal FAQs

Draft answers based on what providers publish. This is not medical advice. If something looks wrong, tell us and we'll check it.

Draft These questions haven't yet been checked against what people search for, so they're marked as drafts.

How much does ear wax removal cost? Draft

Published prices vary by provider, by method and by whether you need one ear or both. Of the 149 providers we list, 146 publish prices we could check online. For example, Specsavers Hearing (earwax removal) lists £55 for one or both ears. Some providers charge a fee if no wax is found, and home visits usually cost more.

Can I get ear wax removed on the NHS? Draft

NHS ear wax removal is not available in many areas, and where it is offered it depends on your local GP practice and health services. Ask your GP practice or a pharmacist what is available locally. This site lists private providers only.

What's the difference between microsuction and irrigation? Draft

Microsuction uses a small suction device to remove wax. Irrigation uses a controlled flow of water. Providers describe their methods differently, so each listing shows only what the provider says, and 'Not confirmed' where it doesn't say.

Do all clinics publish their prices? Draft

No. Where a provider doesn't publish prices, we show 'Price not published' rather than guessing. Check what each price covers, such as one ear or both and any consultation fee.

Is this medical advice? Draft

No. We compare published prices and services only. If you have ear pain, discharge, bleeding, sudden hearing loss or dizziness, contact your GP, NHS 111 or a pharmacist.
